Final chapter on the second afternoon ...
O.K So we get done visiting and the boys are calling smack about how rusty the old man is getting

Yeah I hate telling the truth but I did miss once on this trip and how I have no clue ...but it happens I guess ...So we talk about what to do next ..Should we pack up and head home or hit one more spot to see if he is around where we left him the other day ...We pull up to the spot and the boys are saying how hot it is and they do not want to hike in there again when its hot so we made a sandwhich and just hung out there for awhile just listening and enjoying the sunshine ..Well as luck would have it he goes off on his own

So we just hang tight a minute ...it is about 3:30pm ...he goes off about 5x in about 10 minutes . We crab our stuff and work to him ..He was hanging out in a swampy kinda area and once I got to the creek I could see Gobbler poop everywhere ...while we are slipping in on him he goes off again by himself and I know this boy is going to get whacked ..I sat in front of the boys and let them call for Pop... he is going off but not coming...we can not get no closer ...So we gave him the silent treatment for about 25 minutes and Gobble Gooble again ... I wait another 10 minutes without making another sound and GOBBLE GOBBLE AGAIN ... O.K Big Boy I reach into my fest and pull out another Phelps call ( Black Bat wing diaphram ) I clucked and cut a couple times and Gobble gobble gobble ...I now know he is a dead bird ... I picked it up a notch by cutting and he went nutz .. I called as load as I could on that diaphram and keeping him excited as I could and the boys are being quiet

when I wanted them to join in ...But I had him so fired up he finally comes into view and struts right to me ...I let him get about 15 yrds and give us a show and decided it is time for you to take a dirt nap ...BOOOOOOM ...FLOP FLOP FLAP FLAP ... I get to him and see he was an old swamp gobbler for sure and these spurs pretty much tell the story ... It was an awesome 2 1/2 days for sure ...did not see many hens or gobblers but the ones I did find wanted to play the game ...I decided to call it after the boys calling POP RUSTY

and told them we need to pack up and header out ...lets leave on a good note with no mishaps ! Besides my stomach has been hurting the whole time and I want to go back with my buddy I took last year and the end of the season ...If I do go back I will take my bow ...This bird could of been a Mathews victum but I left her home

I do not care how I kill a turkey ..it is all about hearing the birds doing what they do best ...making thunder in the timber

So there ya go and I would recommend getting back out there if you have not bagged up yet ..they are there to be taken but you need to find them gobblers afternoon hang outs !!
